Blog Of The Year
So we have reached the end of 2009 and consequently the end of the ‘Noughties’. I could talk about the whole decade but I would still be going in 2011! I shall be listing my best things of the year like best film, best game etc but don’t start moaning if you disagree!
Also while you are reading this fine piece of literature, I will be in Sydney where I shall be trying comprehend seeing in the New Year in shorts! (the wonder of scheduling blog posts)
So without further ado, I give you, "The Nineys"!
Best Film
Up
Before you start queuing up to insult my choice, let me explain. Up was not the funniest film I saw this year, nor did it have the best story but it was the film that surprised me the most. I approached Up in the same way as every other Pixar animation, which means I expect it to be aimed at kids but with enough subtle humour to keep the parents happy. This was completely wrong. I have never known people to cry during a Pixar film, but this certainly seemed to achieve that!
So there we go. Up is my Film Of The Year. Don’t like it, tough!
EDIT: I stupidly wrote this before seeing Avatar so this entire section is incorrect. Avatar is my Film of the Year. In fact, Avatar is much more than that. Might even be my favourite film of all time.
Runners Up:
- Public Enemies
- District 9
- The Hangover
Best Game
Flower
Oh dear. I’m not doing well with keeping people happy am i? Oh well! This was a very close one. I spent a lot of time playing all 3 games and enjoyed them all but I could only pick one.
Flower is… um… it’s difficult to actually categorise the game. It’s not a very long game but you can’t stop playing it. The act of guiding a bunch of petals through grass collecting more petals is so relaxing and calming. Also, out of the huge number of games I own, I think it’s the only one I can pick up whenever I want and just play without having to actually play any missions.
Runners Up:
- Burnout Paradise
- inFamous
Best Website
I only found this website at the end of October but I have been addicted to it since. LoadingReadyRun are a Canadian Sketch Comedy Group who have released a video every week without fail for over 6 years and also have 2 series on The Escapist.
Their humour is mainly based on Gaming and because half the cast are half English/New Zealand they have a British style to them.
Best Photo
I’ve taken hundred of photos this year but the reason I’ve chose this one is because it’s the only one I’ve put online that has gotten more than one comment! Oh and the fact that it’s the one photo I love.
Best YouTube Video
I don’t know why this is my YouTube video of the year, it just is.
Games of 2010
Fallout: New Vegas
I have recently started playing Fallout 3 again and have got into it a lot more than I did the first time round. Fallout: New Vegas is not a sequel as such but is the next game in the universe. It is based in Las Vegas. That’s it. Nothing else has been released but it’s a Fallout game so it will be good.
Modnation Racers
I posted a trailer for this game in my E3 post earlier this year and showed my yearning for this game. Modnation Racers is basically a racer version of LittleBigPlanet. The racing is in a similar style to Mario Kart et al but the game will allow you to customize your kart and driver. Oh, and you can create your own tracks as well. Can’t wait!
Command & Conquer 4
I have always been a fan of the C&C series ever since I bought Red Alert 2. I lost about a week playing that game. So the final game in the Tiberium storyline is a game I’m looking forward to. Again, not much has been released but it’s C&C!
