Reduced Reviews: Saints Row: The Third (PS3)
Reduced Reviews are single paragraph reviews which give my overall view of the game/film/etc in question. This time it’s the game Saints Row: The Third for the PS3.
Jump out of planes, steal futuristic VTOL jets and bash people’s heads in with floppy phallic bats. This is just a normal day in Steelport, the setting for Saints Row: The Third. The game is insane (if you couldn’t figure that out already) and is a lot of fun. It’s what GTA used to be before it went serious. I love that the whole city is open from the start, and that it allows you to play the other ending once you’ve finished the story. However the story is very short. Also some “story” missions were just the first mission in the side missions and there was no attempt to incorporate them into the story.
Very fun game that starts mad and just gets more insane. Story was very short however and felt very easy to complete. Also, Quick Time Events

Reduced Reviews: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011)
Reduced Reviews are single paragraph reviews which give my overall view of the game/film/etc in question. This time it’s the film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
A Hollywood adaptation of a Swedish film sounds like a recipe for disaster but this film was not. In fact it was the complete opposite. A dark film that tackles the sometimes gruesome plot head on. It also vividly portrails rape without any glossiness. Even though I have never read the book the film had the feel that it tried to stay close to the source material as well.
A interesting film that is not scared to shy away from the shocking parts of the story which is unlike the typical Hollywood film.

Reduced Reviews: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Reduced Reviews are single paragraph reviews which give my overall view of the game/film/etc in question. This time it’s the film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Let’s get the vital part of this film over with first: it’s bloody. Very bloody. If you feel you won’t cope with seeing a large number of throats being slit then refrain from watching. Apart from that the film was entertaining, even with the constant singing about everything (but it’s a musical so it’s not surprising). It did feel a little short however. There was not the suspense and drama you usually expect in a film. The film was adapted from a stage musical which could explain the shortness.
Very bloody musical which is well acted and enjoyable and the story is well told but felt quite short even though it was just short of 2 hours.
